Indian IT firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has secured a €550m contract with Tryg, a non-life insurance provider in Scandinavia.
The seven-year partnership aims to modernise Tryg’s IT infrastructure across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, thereby advancing the company’s digital transformation agenda.
Under this agreement, TCS will utilise its expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud solutions to streamline and standardise Tryg’s operations. This initiative is designed to simplify processes and enhance customer experiences for over six million clients in Tryg’s primary markets.
TCS will take on the responsibility for application development, infrastructure services, end-user services, and cybersecurity. This is aligned with Tryg’s ‘United Towards 27’ vision, which focuses on developing new digital solutions and simplifying IT operations.
An integral part of the collaboration involves the creation of a unified digital-first operating model to consolidate fragmented functions across Tryg’s regional operations. This model aims to improve scalability and expedite market entry for new services.
By optimising development and operational costs, TCS intends to lay the groundwork for a scalable and sustainable IT ecosystem for Tryg.
Tryg group CEO Johan Kirstein Brammer said: “We are simplifying our IT landscape enabling us to further invest in new technology and develop our business across Scandinavia. This means we can deliver the best customer experiences, continue to differentiate Tryg in the market, and strengthen our competitiveness.
“The extended partnership with TCS, which is one of the leading technology companies in the world, is a key initiative supporting our 2027 target to simplify and scale Tryg’s business. TCS is the right partner to assure an important contribution towards achieving our ambition.”
The partnership between TCS and Tryg spans over 15 years, during which they have collaborated on various transformational projects. TCS said that it has used this extensive experience to develop an industry-first business case aimed at meeting strategic business goals for its Danish and Nordic clients.
The current engagement seeks to leverage TCS’s deep understanding of Tryg’s objectives to bolster the insurer’s resilience against future technological disruptions.
TCS CEO K Krithivasan said: “Success today depends on how quickly and resiliently enterprises can adapt. The key to long-term value creation lies in building perpetually adaptive enterprises enabled by intelligent, future-ready IT systems.
“By combining TCS’ best-in-class Cloud and AI capabilities with our expertise in the insurance sector, we will help Tryg accelerate its transformation into an agile, technology-led enterprise with AI at its core.”
In a related development, TCS recently supported ICICI Lombard in India by implementing a fully automated disaster recovery solution using Amazon Web Services (AWS). This makes ICICI Lombard one of the first insurance companies in India to achieve high operational continuity through advanced automation and infrastructure-as-code methodologies during unexpected disruptions.
