Vietnam Public Commercial Joint Stock Bank (PVcomBank) has launched a new mobile app dubbed PVConnect, powered by Temenos Digital on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The initiative is part of the Vietnamese bank’s efforts to transform the mobile banking experience for its one million customers.

Temenos APAC managing director Ramki Ramakrishnan said: “Congratulations to PVcomBank on the successful launch of its new mobile banking app with Temenos Digital.

“Leveraging the advanced digital capabilities of our cloud-native platform, PVcomBank is setting the standard for best-in-class customer experience in the highly competitive Vietnam market. Working with AWS we are proud to support the bank to accelerate innovation and scale its digital services sustainably.”

PVConnect is built on a cloud-native Temenos platform and is said to offer a variety of modern banking services.

Features of the app include the ability for customers to open an account using an electronic ID, utilise their phone number as their account number, select from various savings products, and execute payments and transfers through QR codes and phone numbers.

The app also allows for direct interactions from the phone’s home screen through a quick access Widget and offers a rewards system where transactions earn points that can be exchanged for eVouchers, financial gifts, or charity donations.

According to Temenos, the app has received positive feedback, garnering a 4.9-star rating on the App Store and a 4.6-star rating on Google Play, based on thousands of reviews.

Temenos claimed that its platform has given agility to PVcomBank, enabling the app to innovate continuously and introduce new features through low/no code tools.

The banking software firm said that the integration of Temenos Digital has not only improved the user experience but also increased the bank’s operational efficiency by 40%.

This integration consolidates the bank’s front and back-office functions onto a single platform that bridges on-premise data centres with the cloud, enhancing process automation and reducing friction in customer interactions, said Temenos.

Following the launch of PVConnect, PVcomBank has observed a significant increase in customer onboarding and deposit volumes, said Temenos.

The bank is said to have maintained a relationship with Temenos for over a decade, utilising its core solutions for both retail and corporate banking.

PVcomBank deputy general director Nguyen Viet Ha said: “Mobile banking is the primary channel for our retail business and with Temenos Digital on AWS we’ve been able to deliver an outstanding customer experience with the scalability and flexibility we need to stay agile and responsive to market trends.

“Since the launch of PVConnect we have moved over one million customers to the new app, and we are thrilled with thousands of positive comments we have received.”

Earlier this year, Temenos was chosen by Lithuania’s Šiaulių Bankas to transform its core banking platform.
