InvoiceCloud has commenced the rollout of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within its electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) platform as part of efforts to automate billing and payment processes.

The latest developments include generative AI capabilities and agent-based automation tools. These are being integrated to reduce manual errors, improve workflow efficiency, and support real-time decision-making for clients across sectors.

The company’s AI-led transformation aligns with its wider approach to embed intelligent technology across both its internal operations and customer-facing platform. The initiative seeks to optimise billing experiences, accelerate innovation cycles, and expand the use of data-driven processes in customer engagement and payment services.

One of the newly introduced features is a natural language report builder, which enables billers to create reports by inputting plain text prompts. Currently in beta, the tool allows real-time report generation aimed at streamlining reporting tasks. General availability of this feature is anticipated by June 2025.

Another tool under development is an AI-powered agent framework that is expected to automate various payment functions. These agents are designed to respond dynamically to transactional data, adapt to operational changes in real time, and resolve customer queries without human intervention.

The broader release of this solution is planned for the second half of 2025.

InvoiceCloud confirmed that these AI-driven upgrades are intended to enhance task efficiency, improve the security of payment interactions, and introduce a greater degree of personalisation into billing journeys. The tools are being positioned as enablers of reduced processing costs, increased speed of payment receipt, and minimised staff involvement.

InvoiceCloud CEO Kevin O’Brien “This isn’t just about adding new features—it’s about evolving how we operate and how we serve

“We’re applying AI across our own teams and technologies to make smarter, faster decisions—and we’re helping our customers do the same. Whether it’s streamlining billing or exploring new AI use cases beyond payments, we’re becoming a partner in their innovation journey.”

Operating a cloud-based SaaS model, InvoiceCloud delivers digital payment solutions across multiple industries including utilities, government, and insurance.

The company services over 3,200 customers and reports consistent growth in customer engagement metrics such as AutoPay, digital payment adoption, and paperless billing rates.

According to InvoiceCloud, its EBPP platform supports ongoing improvements to the customer experience, with measurable outcomes in cost control and operational efficiency.
