The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has been selected by the IFRS Foundation as an official training partner for the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
The programme was recently launched by the IFRS Foundation.
According to the HKICPA, it is one of 25 institutions worldwide selected as an ISSB Training Partner.
Through the programme, the accounting body will provide training that builds both technical understanding and hands-on capabilities in applying the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
It will also allow the HKICPA to use the resources available through the partnership to improve its Sustainability Reporting Certificate Programme.
The HKICPA noted that the selection reflects its “ongoing commitment” to back the rollout of sustainability reporting rules in Hong Kong and deepen the profession’s expertise in this area.
The institute also underlined its position in supporting “high-quality” sustainability reporting aligned with internationally accepted standards.
HKICPA president Stephen Law said: “We are honoured to be appointed as an official ISSB Training Partner by the IFRS Foundation.
“As sustainability reporting requirements continue to evolve globally, it is critical to build market readiness and professional capability.
“This appointment enables the HKICPA to further support our members, sustainability reports preparers and other stakeholders through high-quality training based on IFRS Foundation-developed content, contributing to the effective implementation of sustainability disclosure standards in Hong Kong.”
An updated programme, scheduled for launch later this year, will add official IFRS Foundation training materials with coverage of Hong Kong-specific implementation issues and practical applications of sustainability reporting standards.
