Deutsche Bank has expanded its collaboration with IBM through a new agreement that grants the bank access to the latter’s extensive software offerings.
The partnership includes IBM’s business and IT automation infrastructure, advanced hybrid cloud solutions, and the watsonx AI collection. Additionally, Deutsche Bank will utilise the latest improvements in IBM’s Storage Protect software suite for data backup and recovery.
IBM global managing director for Deutsche Bank Dominic Schulz said: “We are proud that Deutsche Bank has further intensified their relationship with IBM by engaging with our innovative software solution portfolio.
“With access to IBM’s comprehensive offerings, including the innovative watsonx AI and automation portfolio, Deutsche Bank will be able to analyse its data more deeply, simplify complex business processes, and drive IT automation.”
The watsonx.ai platform is designed for enterprise-grade AI service development, offering APIs, tools, models, and runtimes to facilitate application integration. It provides developer-focused capabilities such as preconfigured SDKs, agentic workflows, and retrieval augmented generation frameworks, supporting AI application development in both natural language and code.
IBM Storage Protect aims to offer comprehensive data resilience for physical file servers and virtual environments. It forms part of IBM’s software-defined storage products and supports SaaS application backup through Storage Protect for Cloud.
According to IBM, organisations can manage billions of objects per backup server while reducing infrastructure costs via built-in data efficiency features. Data can be stored on tape, public cloud services, or on-premises object storage.
This agreement allows Deutsche Bank to enhance its business operations, IT framework, and service delivery by leveraging IBM’s technology. The bank aims to replace outdated systems, optimise return on investment, and improve customer experience.
Deutsche Bank Group technology infrastructure head and Americas technology data and innovation head Tony Kerrison said: “IBM is a natural partner for Deutsche Bank’s ambitious technology transformation, and their innovative solutions continue to help optimise and streamline our technology stack.
“Our employment of IBM’s software and tooling strategically complements our ambitions to modernize, simplify and strengthen our technology infrastructure.”
