Deloitte has entered into a partnership with accounts payable (AP) automation and invoice processing company Basware in a move to modernise e-invoicing.

The partnership aims to improve touchless invoice processing for customers across the world.

Besides, the alliance between the parties will combine AP expertise to speed up automation and finance transformation.

Basware CEO Jason Kurtz said: “It’s been exciting to collaborate with Deloitte over recent months and work towards a joint vision that helps companies save time and money when sending and receiving invoices, while reducing compliance risk.

“Together, our technology and leadership in the AP space will unlock new levels of touchless invoice processing.”

Both companies intend to focus on key challenges, opportunities, and regulatory requirements in the finance domain through the collaboration.

By combining Basware’s strengths in AP automation and Deloitte’s access to its network of finance, procurement and tax experts, the parties plan to drive value for customers.

The collaboration is anticipated to provide businesses with insights into the latest trends and best practices in finance transformation, achieved through the integration of accounts payable automation services.

Furthermore, the alliance between Deloitte and Basware will seek to create a joint go-to-market strategy to reach a broader audience.

The partnership is intended to develop co-innovation opportunities to meet the changing legislative e-invoicing requirements as well as build a bunch of certified Deloitte consultants trained on Basware solutions for project delivery.

Deloitte Consulting director Arian Kaandorp said: “Our clients are moving from automating task-specific processes to running autonomous finance operations. Partnering with Basware to combine our expertise in touchless invoice processing is an important step to increase the adoption of e-invoicing.

“Through our alliance, we aim to support our clients with the technology-enabled transformation of their AP process while meeting the rising legislative e-invoicing requirements.”

Earlier this month, Basware announced the acquisition of cloud-based solutions provider AP Matching for an undisclosed sum.
