Sudan-based Africa and Gulf Bank (AGB) has selected Swiss banking software provider Temenos to transform its digital and core banking capabilities.

Temenos’ digital and core banking solution will allow the Sudanese bank to offer new products faster to retail and corporate clients in the country and across the globe.

Besides, the solution will help AGB to advance in the changing digital economy in the country by offering modern-day products and financial services in Sudan.

AGB will use Temenos Infinity as a full omnichannel, multi-experience platform, backed by Temenos Transact, to offer its consumers across numerous channels and devices using native capabilities.

Temenos Middle East and Africa managing director William Moroney said: “Temenos has a strong presence in East Africa and Sub Sahara and this latest signing shows we have a compelling solution for banks in the region.

“Our flexible, cloud-native platform will enable AGB to operate more efficiently and bring innovative new products to Sudanese consumers and businesses more quickly, while improving customer experience.”

AGB started operations in late 2021 following the acquisition of Sudan-based operations of a major Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) bank.

The banking and financial services company aims to deliver innovative Sharia-compliant products for its clients within Sudan and internationally to the Sudanese diaspora.

AGB offers customer-centric, digital-first business strategy that focuses on delivering new financial products, services and a branch-lite network outreach to individuals, small and medium-sized businesses and corporate customers.

By leveraging a complete set of front-to-back banking capabilities on Temenos’ open and composable platform, AGB will deliver a frictionless, tailored digital experience to its customers. The bank is also expected to benefit from improved compliance and analytics.

AGB CEO Nadeem Lodhi said: “The investment in Temenos Transact and Infinity underscores our commitment to be not only the best bank but also the most innovative.

“Replacing the core banking system with a cloud-native platform will improve our bank’s operational efficiency and allow us to introduce new products and services, faster to market.”
