The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has widened its international network with the launch of its 55th overseas chapter, set up in Ohio, US.
This is the ICAI’s 15th chapter in the US and is part of its global framework aimed at supporting Indian chartered accountants (CAs) working overseas and fostering professional links across countries.
With the Ohio addition, the ICAI’s international network now extends to 85 cities in 47 countries.
According to the Indian Express report, the institute’s overseas presence comprises 55 chapters and 30 representative offices.
This sits alongside its domestic structure, which comprises five regional councils and 186 branches across India.
In the US, Ohio joins the ICAI chapters already operating in Arizona, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Michigan, New England, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC.
Additionally, the ICAI has chapters in Florida, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
The ICAI’s overseas chapters serve as platforms for Indian CAs to engage in professional development, share knowledge and build networks.
According to the institute, these chapters also play a role in encouraging foreign investment in India and assist Indian companies by offering guidance on investment prospects in different global regions.
The ICAI’s first overseas chapter was created in Doha, Qatar, in 1981.
The institute said the latest expansion is part of its ongoing efforts to develop a worldwide professional network of CAs and strengthen international collaboration within the accounting field.
The Luxembourg chapter of the ICAI recently hosted its first ICAI International Conference – Europe.
