US-based fiduciary process provider Orion and capital market company iCapital have enhanced their collaboration to enhance access to alternative investments for independent advisors.
The integration offers streamlined single sign-on (SSO) access, enabling advisors to create tailored portfolios that meet evolving investor demands.
According to Orion’s 2025 Advisor Wealthtech Survey, alternative investments are growing, with 30% of advisors prioritising them and 28% planning to do so within three years.
However, the 2025 Investor Survey reveals that only 23% of investors currently access alternatives through their advisors.
The enhanced partnership aims to bridge the gap, empowering advisors to incorporate alternative investments with ease and efficiency.
Orion Advisor Technology executive vice president Todd Bertucci said: “This deepened collaboration with iCapital simplifies the complexities of alternative investments, enabling advisors to build more diversified, goal-aligned portfolios.
“As demand for alternatives surges, this integration ensures independent advisors can deliver the sophisticated solutions investors seek, strengthening their ability to drive financial success.”
The integration, part of Orion’s Premier Partnership Programme, offers several capabilities that benefit both advisors and clients.
It allows advisors to seamlessly navigate from Orion’s platform to the iCapital Marketplace, accessing a range of alternative investment opportunities without workflow disruption.
A comprehensive reporting feed automates data transmission from iCapital to Orion, allowing advisors to present alternative and traditional assets in a single report.
Also, advisors can benefit from educational resources, advanced search and filtering for various investment types, tailored research tools, intuitive workflows, and interactive dashboards for fund management.
The features enable advisors to offer clients diversified portfolios aligned with their financial goals while maintaining operational efficiency.
iCapital Solutions managing director and co-head Steve Houston said: “Our enhanced integration with Orion illustrates our commitment to helping advisors better serve clients through easier access to alternative investments.
“With single sign-on to the iCapital Marketplace, unified reporting, and a full suite of tools, advisors can manage the investment lifecycle with greater efficiency and insight.”
The collaboration strengthens the independent advice industry by providing access to institutional-grade tools and investment opportunities.
The integration reduces administrative burdens, allowing advisors to focus on client relationships and strategic planning.
By streamlining access to alternatives, Orion and iCapital empower advisors to compete with larger institutions and attract high-net-worth clients.
